How to apply for the Malaysian Automated Clearance System (MACS) pass (no more need for filling those white immigration forms!)

Do you qualify? It used to be that you have either purchased a property in Malaysia or hold a valid Employment visa. Now, just about anyone can apply as a "frequent visitor"- no proof required for that either.

Where you go to get this: ONLY FOR THOSE WHO CAN SHOW THEY OWN A PROPERTY IN JOHOR (bring a copy of the Sale and Puchase agreement) The Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) has a one-stop office where you can get it all conveniently done. It's at G-01, Block 8, Danga Bay, Jalan Skudai, 80200, Johor Baru. IF YOU HAVE AN EMPLOYMENT PASS FOR MALAYSIA THIS ALSO APPLIES TO YOU (bring a copy when you apply).

For others who are frequent travellers: Go to Level 3 of the Orchard Parade Hotel (junction of Orchard Road and Orange Grove Road). Cost is S$35 and takes a day to process.

Requirements: There is a form given to you to fill in concerning your passport particulars, your address and such. Bring a passport sized photo.

Bring the following with you:-

-  your original passport with photocopies of the main page/s [and if you have it, a copy of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) blue visa];

-   entry visa (if applicable);

-   a photograph

The cost is RM$30 per passport. Note that the validity of the passport must be for more than two years.

Opening hours: 8.30 am - 4 pm, Mondays to Fridays. Telephone numbers: +607 - 2333000,  - 2333189, - 2333040.

The validity of this useful MACS pass is for a year and renewable annually.

Until further notice this year you can apply for or renew your MACS at the Aeon Building that houses Jusco in Bukit Indah. Easier than ever, just take your passport there personally with RM$30, 9am -7pm. You will not even need a photograph. They will scan the photograph on your passport and use it for your MACS application.
